On behalf of the Wolves club, a huge congrats to 19-year-old Ryan Stubbs, claiming the Round 1 AFL Sydney Men’s Rising Star nomination.

Still eligible to play in the younger grade, Stubbs put his hand up for selection off the back of a big 12 months, and more recently a commendable pre-season.

Stubbs is a tough, hard-working versatile halfback-mid with crisp ball skills.

In his Premier Division debut against Inner Wests in round 1 of the 2021 season, at Weldon Oval, Stubbs impressed enough to catch the attention of the Sydney AFL community.

Prems coach Andrew Rodgers told AFL Sydney Media he was impressed with Stubbs’ composure stepping up to the grade for the first time.

“He picked up the speed of the game immediately, and did an incredible job putting pressure on the forwards.

He’s done all the preseason work and is in prime condition – this was clear on the field.”
